MG MGF Technical - ANYONE WATCHED TOPGEAR?
Jesus,. anyone looked at topgear? Sat 20.45? We will have problems competing with the OPel/vauxhall VSX 220 Turbo.... 0-60 in 4 secs? JESUS |
Fubu_box |
It is only a 2 litre engine producing 190 BHP and didn't Clarkson have some fun with it, 6K cheaper than the Elise too. |
Chris |
> 0-60 in 4 secs? Is a lie, something like 4.7, I think, which is still monterously fast, but nothing like as fast as 4 sec. |

VX220 Turbo = Great Car! I borrowed one from the local Vauxhall dealer for an hour a couple of weeks ago. 0-60mph in 4.7 secs is the official figure, so Clarkson was being kind (to a Vauxhall!!!???). The 2.0l Turbo produces 200bhp by the way. Handling is fantastic. I'm about to trade my Trophy 160 in for one! Paul |

Hmmm, something is not right here... Lightweight aloy chassis - check Lightweight GPR panels - check Powerful engine - check and 4 wheels? Great car (well done Lotus) and seriously quick. But i'd rather have a Metro, they are faster still! SF (International spec Metro 6R4. 0-60 = 3.2 secs!) |

The VX Turbo is great, but if they still made them I would have a Ford RS200 Evo, 0-60mph in 2.1 Seconds - now that is fast!!!! Arron |

Drove a 'standard' VX220. Fantastic car. I'd most probably plump for it over the Elise. Scared that the turbo version will be laggy. Will have to try it sometime. <grin> But.... it just wasn't practical enough. Reality hits. <walks away sobbing> |

Opel 2.0 turbo = 4.9 sec, to be exact !! |

B.T.W. Arron, as you say, the ford RS200 Evo is a very quick one, faster as a vx220, and even faster than a Donkervoort, Caterham, .... but 2.1 sec , no that's to quick, it's not a dragster. The right specs. are 0-60 mph. 3.0 sec For all the specs. of the RS200 evo, check : http://www.supercars.net/garages/EBoNix3000/17v2.html |

Serious stuff guys, as Clarkson would say, MG is BRITISH, check, like Rolls Royce, check. MG make sports cars, check, if the Chineese made jet engines, would you want to fly in a plane with one fitted. I dont think so Mike |

>But i'd rather have a Metro, they are faster still! Yes, I wondered about that with all their raving about whichever 4wd French Hot Hatch they reviewed recently with a V6 in the middle.... It sounded very like an underpowered 6R4 :-) Neil. |

Bruno A friend of mine had a RS200 a few years ago and that was a standard model at the 3second mark, the attached link shows the Evo model that I only found out about a little while ago that claims 2.1 Seconds. I struggled to believe it myself and all I can think is that they must have done some serious work on the gearing. http://www.pistonheads.com/milestones/rs200.htm Arron |

FAO Bruno the 4.9 figure is probably 0-100 km/h, which takes a little longer than 0-60 mph. anyway the .2 secs are very realtive. But anything under 5 secs is really quick. All this makes me want to supercharge my F, not buy a VX220 turbo ! |
Anthony Braham |
Arron, yes, 2.1 is very very fast, even faster than a motorcycle, and even hard to believe, but if you say so... wooow ! This makes the RS200 the fatstest (street)car ever , but not the most beautifull. Yes, man can't get everything. Anthony, yes, you're right there, 0-100 kph takes a little bit longer, my mistake ! |
