MG MGF Technical - ap brake upgrade - multispoke wheels?

Upgrading to ap 4 pots and 304mm discs and planning to put them under 16" multispokes (as fitted to SE). Rob says 1.5mm spacers are needed, Nik & Anita mention 4mm spacers? Has anyone else done this and are there any hints/tips to be had? Where can I get the spacers? Your help is appreciated.
PJ Shuttleworth

Can't help you with the size of spacer, but here's a picture -

Nik has this modification on his car (Multispokes over APs) - so if he says 4mm, he's more likely to be right than I am!

Sounds as though 4mm is the way to go.
Rob Bell

Thats strange 'cos I have tried this on my car and I needed a larger spacer than 4mm so dismissed the idea. This would indicate a variance in the specs of these wheels.
mike

PS I stock the 4mm spacers.
mike

Thanks guys. Interesting picture - shows balance weights on outside. I knew it would be tight......!
It mentions in the archives some 'fettling' of calipers as well - can you shed any light Nik?
Phil 22

Sorry to be late on the thread (busy with lamda sensor). Like the pic Dave, I am sure it is of my car.
No need to mess with the calipers.
4mm spacers as stocked by Mike.
You will get the wheels to fit with 1.5mm spacers but that was tight.
4mm spacers will not allow your fingers to pass between the wheel and caliper if you are as stupid as me and try to spin the wheel with your finger in it. Over 2 months ago and still hurting.
Nik

Forgot to mention that the balance weights are now on the inside of the wheels, just not inline with the calipers.
Nik

Nik - ouch - still hurting? :o(
Rob Bell

>and try to spin the wheel with your finger in it.
ouch:(ouch:( ouch :(ouch :(ouch !! I can hear you cry ! Err%&)/§$§$$

btw, just while on the matter. Apology for this offtopic?
Did anyone ever see a Standard caliper rub at a rim like here ??
The guy tried all four rims on this location and they all interfer by 1.5mm with this caliper. Not on the other three.

I can't say that I have Dieter - seems strange?

>>Like the pic Dave, I am sure it is of my car.<<

I think that I took it just after speaking to you at Silverstone this year :-)

Check the clearance between the inner rim and caliper IIRC this was very close, a bit too close for comfort for me.
mike

On the picture that Dave has posted, you can see quite clearly the gap of 6mm between the inner rim and the caliper. I think this is safe enough and have probably covered 20 thousand miles with them.
