Prices: Normally aspirated engines: 140bhp = £1295.00 160bhp = £2395.00 185bhp = £9000.00 - OMG! Turbo conversions: 168bhp = £5000.00 - This is Supercharger money and is 30bhp less 220bhp = £10,000.00 - Your 'avin a laugh aint 'cha? You can buy a cup car for less than this! 305bhp = P.O.A. - Some sums... Ratio between 168 and 220bhp conversions = 52bhp : £5000.00 or 1bhp : £96.00 Therefore 305 - 220 = 85bhp 85bhp x £96.00 = £8160.00 £8160.00 + £10,000.00 = £18,160.00 This is an educated guess based upon the prices / data given - do they want to sell any of these or not? Unbelievable pricing!! yup makes more sense to chop in the car for something else! also 300 bhp in out little F's = lots of heat, lots of lag I shouldnt wonder and the need for Mega brakes and a colostomy bag!!!! |

Lots of question marks over the 300bhp conversion IMO, not least of which is the gearbox, which is only rated to 240NM torque. Mind you for the guestimated figure above you could probably fit a new gearbox a month for a full year and still have plenty of change... I imagine the reason the price is P.O.A. is probably because they've never done one. They have probably worked out how to do it and maybe even worked up some prototypes to get a power output, but i doubt anyone has actually spent this kind of money on a car like the F in one hit - it took me 7 years to get near to this figure and there are very few people who've embraced the Dark Side as much as i have... As far as I'm aware they have only done 1 305BHP convertion and that was on an Elise. If you look at the difference in the amount of work carried out between the 220 & 305 convertions I suspect you would be looking at £25K+ for the 305. |
