i know i posted this yesterday went to halfords to get a bulb for the binncle bulb dash is it 12w 12v bulb thats all they do there.. could you claify that with me darren |

Darren, sorry to say that that bulb is almost certainly the wrong one: 12w is probably far too powerful. HOWEVER I cannot find the correct rating for the instrument illumination bulb in any of the literature I can lay my hands on - the workshop manual or parts catalogue. I think that you are going to need to contact a Rover/MG service centre or X-Part themselves to obtain the correct bulb. Darren when you find this out, could you let us know? It will be very useful bit of information for the BBS archive :o) |

Hi rob went to my rover dealer in milton keynes told about the bulbs the binncle they said they are the 12w 12 v bulb thats what they reckon they are had that checked out by brown and gammons umm darren |

Okay, that may be right then. All I can find are the ratings of the various warning lamps: 14v and 2w |

12w sounds incredibly bright! The sidelights are 5w and the brakelights are 15w. Are you sure its not 1.2w? Ralph |

Darren, If you mean the bulbs that actually fit inside the instrument panel, the EPC quotes..... YAJ100260 Bulb & holder assembly 1 off which seems to the one that gives the light shining down onto the face of the panel - its a bulb and holder on a small loom. Maybe the bulb is hardwired? And the actual warning bulbs as.... EJP1180 Bulb & holder assembly - 14V 1.4W 10 off and CDU3270 Bulb & holder assembly - Blue, 14V 2W 1 off Hope this helps |

just found out that you where right its the bulbs that shine down are 14v thank to every one darren jeffery |

well brown and gammons told me it was a 1.2w bulb from halfords looked on the thread or the rave cd its saying 1.4w when i had the 1.2 w in it was bright as a button not so now since i have the 1.4s in |
darren jeffery |
14v, 1.4w draws the same current as 12v, 1.2w. v = u + 1/2 at ^2, or something like that! ;) Ralph |
Ralph |
power = current x voltage Therefore current = power / voltage Ralph is absolutely right - both of the bulbs at the ratings and voltages quoted will draw the same current: 1.2w/ 12v = 0.1 amps and 1.4w/ 14v = 0.1 amps... |
Rob Bell |
hi rob thats now put my mind at ease thanks with the voltages and wats |
