MG MGF Technical - Blipper Battery Question
Hi Guys, Anyone know if my blipper will lose sync with the car alarm if I change the battery? Usually with these things you get a short period of time to do it in before the two no longer talk to each other. Thanks in advance Phil |

Forget it, found the procedure in the archives. Tried it our and it worked first time. For anyone who's interested... 1. Remove old battery from blipper. 2. Hold both buttons down for 5 seconds 3. Insert new battery and clip fob back together. 4. Unlock drivers door with key, then press lock button on fob repeatedly (5 times) until lock activates. Roberts your mothers brother!!. Cheers Phil |

Phil I was just about to say that I'd done it twice before and had no problems - must have been quick when I did it. |

>> 2. Hold both buttons down for 5 seconds << Not sure of the point of this step??? Or am I missing something? If there is no battery in the fob, then pressing down the two buttons is going to have no effect? Confused of Muswell Hill |

I am not claiming that this is the reason BUT low power CMOS circuits can stay 'alive' on small amounts of power stored in circuit capacitance, maybe this move is designed to discharge the capacitance for some reason. |

Ken, sounds good to me. Phil, I would suggest that you know your EKA code if the fob gets lost or broken or battery goes flat when you least expect it. Look in this current thread for more info and links. "Key Remote FOB" Cheers, Branko. |

Rob, >>>maybe this move is designed to discharge the capacitance for some reason That's the reasoning I was given as well. Dunno wh you would need to do it but that's apparently what it does. Branko, I have the code safely stored. Thanks for the tip off. |

Phil, Your Welcome :-) |

G Farthing. Be carefull if you deadlock the car and the spare battery is inside the cabin. Put it in the BOOT. |

Another tip that may be of use to someone....sometime. If your fob battery does go flat, and the remote does not operate, remove the battery from the fob, put it in your palms and very quickly rub, rub, rub. This will heat up the battery allowing it to give out a little juice. Put it back in the fob. It may then have just enough juice to operate the remote system. This may get you out of a tight spot but don't delay in having the battery replaced. Cheers, Branko. |
