MG MGF Technical - Blocked Radio Code

When I replaced the battery, the CODE request came up. I entered the wrong code 3 or 4 times and now the WAIT instruction has come up. I have driven for over an hour and WAIT is still on the screen.

My MGR dealer has told me that it will cost for £40 for the radio to be sent off and the code re-set.

Does anyone know of a cheaper/free alternative such as another dealer/independent garage preferably in London/within M25 (or Birmingham)?

Would disconnecting and reconnecting the battery making any difference?

Thanks
R Solomon

Have you forgotten your number, or just got it wrong ?

Hi Mike,

I was unable to find the code at the time hence me entering the wrong code 3 or 4 times. I have since found the code but the CODE request has not come back. The screen shows WAIT for well over an hour so I was told by the MGR dealer that the radio would need to be sent off and re-set.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the link - am I correct that this link if for people who have lost their codes (as opposed to me who now has the code but cannot enter it since the screen shows WAIT)?

Thanks to both of you.

Ramona,

Have you tried disconnecting your battery for a while to see if that will clear the radio's memory and so when you connect it up again it will ask for the code?

If you look at the following it says that if you enter the wrong code it doubles the time needed before you can enter the code again -

Ramona,

I agree with David,

It could be some time before the "CODE" command returns.

I'd leave it switched on with the ingnition at position I overnight and see what happens.

If it transpires that it does have to be sent back to the factory, you might want to consider getting a new haed unit which wil support MP3, iPOD etc., as you can pick these up for a song these days.

Good luck.
