MG MGF Technical - Boot lid moving out of alignment
Hi, Has anyone had their bootlid move out of alignment (all on its own sort of thing, not the result of a prang). If YES, did you have a rear spoiler fitted? Has the problem been sorted to your satisfaction? Feedback would be appreciated. Bob |

Yes, probebly due to somting big in the boot, or the new tonneo cover. Four screws on the lid/ hinge (two either side) Losten and hand tighten close lid push hard on lid untill perfect open and fully tighten screws |

yep Will's spot on about fix, same happened to me prob a mixture of spoiler and tonneau cover, Dave. |

Will and Dave, thanks for your comments, but I suspect the cause is not so trivial. My local MGR dealer tells me that EVERY F with a spoiler fitter (either as an extra or standard as in the Trophy) that they have seen has had its boot lid go out of line, and always at the near side. MGR are investigating. They currently have one which they cannot line up correctly, and even after factory assistance the owner is having to lump it (its not mine) Hence the significance of the second and third question. Cheers, Bob |

I wouldn't beleive him, the extra weight of the spoiler must be negligable (just enough to let the boot close) TADTS is just an excuse for not fixing a problem properly. |

Thats exactly the same problem as mine. Never used hood cover. Bootlid goes out of line at nearside only, also makes from time to time a creaking noise. Booked in for service later this month. The Trophy spoiler fitted as OE,as model is freestyle with reinforcing plates under boot lid. The nuts have been checked and are always tight. If anyone has Trophy or Freestyle its also worth checking if its got the upgraded hinge and spring assemblt, part no BMB 460080/90. |

I've had my B&G spoiler fitted for a year now and no problems with boot alignment..Boot light has gone intermittent but that appears to be a damaged wire (trapped by the hinge where it is clipped with one of those plastic handcuff jobbies... |
