MG MGF Technical - BOOT RELEASE/CENTRAL LOCKING

I HAVE HEARD THAT THESE MODIFICATIONS CAN BE MADE ?
DOES ANYONE KNOW WERE TO GET THE KITS/COST AND IF POSSIBLE INSTALL DETAILS

The F has central locking as standard (at least every one I have ever seen) and only one key hole.

Remote boot release kits are available - I know that Brown & Gammon sell a kit, follow their advert from the top of this site.

There is a deliberate security policy with the F: a key is needed to open the rear compartment, the rear compartment has to be open to get the front compartment open.

I believe that the BG kit requires the key to be in the ignition for the boot release to operate.

A boot release kit is avaialable from Brown and Gammons for £70 (see link below)

Haven't fitted one myself, but I know others on this BBS have, so you should get some more posts.

I also have a 1.6i and am looking into Central Locking

It is possible (thought not thru my dealer who does not have a clue)

A dealer in the UK (Trident) was selling central locking converted 1.6i's

It seems that the conversion is not to put MGF Central locking in but to put in Central locking motors from another Rover car.

I am doing some research but it is not easy from a small Island with only one dealer.

I will keep you informed of progress

Meanwhile if you get any info please let me know.
