MG MGF Technical - boring windstop

Yesterday I mounted MikeSatur windbreak screen. It's beautyfull but it make very difficult to unzip rear PVC and to put down soft-top from seat. I have to lose some time to unzip and I have to stand up and go out from the car to put down the soft-top.

It's windstop more usefull than boring? I think windstop is not very necessary in this hot summer (in Italy is very hot) but, now, I cannot disassemble it easly: it has the adhesive strip.

What do you think about it?

You can fold it down, but you need to have the hood up for that, I think it is worth the effort, hot swirling air doesn't actually seem to cool me faster than hot still air.

Also if you open the rear window and popper it down, then you can raise the hood and still leave the car reasonabley secure, although not watertight.

Have a look at the hood tips on the MGF FAQ:

...and navigate to FAQ / Car Care / Hood Tips.

There is a tip for unzipping the rear screen with a windstop fitted (you make use of a 'lock-up').

Also, raising the hood from the driver's seat with a windstop is possible (i do it all the time, although i use a different arm as my driver's seat is on the right!) ;-)

Your driver's seat is on the left, so you need to partially lower the driver's window and reach behind you with your LEFT hand. Now grab the hood frame (the rubber seal at the top of the window) and pull, this should lift the hood into position, you can now clip it into place on the top of the windscreen. :-)

cnerone,

You wanna try unzipping it and zipping it back up when you also have the hoops fitted as well as the windbreak, Ive just about mastered it!!!!

Youll soon get the hang of it...

Today evening I driven with MikeSatur windbreek screen. I think is a very actractive thing but it is two or tree centimeters too low.

My body was very well but head had wind, and wind chill, in the upper "side". I think windbreek would have to be a few higher to do a good job. I think it's so little because it's mounted in the rear side of t-bar. If it would be mounted 3 centimeters could be three, or more, centimeters higher without having problem about contact between it and rear PVC.

I'm thinking about to disassemble it and do this work.

i have took my screen of for the summer, i left the main body on & un-screwed it from the hinge, it only took about 5 min's,just un screw the nut at the end, then use a allen key to take out the bolts, dont loose the washer's.put the bolts back in the inges on the glass, & store away saftly, i think it should not take any longer to fit back on.......
