MG MGF Technical - Boxer 3 from Mike Satur
Hi Who has installed by himself the boxer3 by MS, i ask you that because i do not live in uk and if i buy it, i will be obliged to do it by myself. i already have his windscreen in glass so i will only buy the boxer 3 in chrome. Was it easy to do it, did you have to buy some special tools, are you happy with your job, have you some remarks to do about it ? thanks for the reply regards |

Hi An easy job.. just take your time. the hoops will come with a template for cutting holes in the T Bar. The rule is "measure twice cut once". Ratchet ring spanners are useful but not essential. You may have to buy a hole saw atachment for your drill. Mike's instructions tell you what diameter. Insatructions are clear and easy to follow In short a piece of easy and the ends reults - great |

If you already have one of Mike's glass windstops I suspect that it is the Boxer MkII that you need and not the MkIII. Have a look at some of the pictures (including the ones of Mike fitting mine)at http://www.csmgf.co.uk/darkside/roll_hoops/roll_hoops.htm and check with Mike before you order to make sure you get the correct one. |

hi all thanks for the reply You were right, it's the boxer 2 that i need not the 3, thanks again, i like your car with the boxer, red and chrome is nice. Do you know how the guy (mike maybe on pictures ?) keep the soft top open when he is working in the engine compartment, i try many things (piece of wood, screwdriver, etc...) but didn't find the good one. David i love your website, many nice pictures, well done guys. regards |

To keep the soft top open when working I use a 'Luggage Strap' like you may use on a roof rack. Undo the front, loop it around, refit front and adjust the strap. Hi Tech. You can use a piece of string. Geoff F. |

It's not Mike that's in the pictures it's a chap called Paul that used to work for him. I tend to use a piece of string to keep the hood pulled forward when I've got the engine cover off. |

To hold hood up I use a elastic luggage securing (bungy) strap. These have a hook at each end and a long one can be hooked on one of the wiper arms run over the roof and hooked onto the uplifted hood edge. |
