MG MGF Technical - Brake Calipers

I'm thinking of trying to paint the brake calipers on my VVC this weekend, has anyone else done this before and if so how was it.

I was thinking that I might be able to buy some red heat resistant paint from Halfords or B&Q and might be able to paint with just removing the wheels.

Also would I have any problems with heat build up if painted?
Tim

Noticed Brake Caliper paint in Halfords last weekend - Yellow and Red (not in the same can).

Quite a few people have done this - and Scarlet has even gotten away with using just red smoothrite paint!!!

Temperature resistant stuff is probably better TBQH. No problems with heat build up.

Buy some brake cleaner though - the calipers get filthy, and will need a thorough scrub before you paint.

WOW!
I was just going to post the same question!
off to halfords me thinks

Used Smooth Hammerite from B&Q because couldn't be bothered to go to Halfords. Cleaned up first, 2 coats paint, still there as good as new.

Another question.

I would like to fit union jack badges under the side repeaters. Any recommendations for suppliers.

I have seen some in the Moss & B&G catalogue but they look as though they are attached with rivets or bolts.

I know that I can get the TF type ones but they look a bit small and I'm not sure about the chequered flag bit.

Any suggestions?
Tim

Rovers use the union flag only, and are self adhesive.

Not sure if they'll be large enough for you?

Otherwise, buy the union flag enamel badge from B&G or Moss, remove the rivet lugs, and attach with double sided trim tape.

The trouble with the Rover Union Flag badges on the side of the car is that on one side the flag will be flying in the correct direction (flagstaff forward) whilst on the otherside it will be flying in the wrong direction. You therefore either have the flag monunthed on the boot or only on one side....

Ours is on the boot as I am with you Tim on the chequered flag bit...

Cheers

Love the chequered flag bit (well I would, wouldn't I?) - but got around the flagstaff problem by, like you Patrick, just having the badge on the back. ;o)

Try a Triumph motorcycle dealer - they "fly the flag" even if the factory did burn down recently.
