MG MGF Technical - Brake light switch
I have 2000MY VVC and noticed the brake lights didn't work. This was due to one of the tags on the switch breaking. It looks as if the switch should have a propper connector on it but on mine its just 2 cramp on tags. The wire on the earth tag was so tight that the tak eventually broke (as the switch moves slightly each time you press the brake). Mine is the latest switch type (apparently). So, my question is (are they all just 2 tags on the switch, or should it have a propper connector and for some reason my car has been bodged ?). It seems likely that you could also knock the tags whilst pressing the clutch, so disconnecting the broke switch. Thanks |

Sounds like someone has been messing around as I have never heard of this problem before - before is 6.5 years! Ted |

But ted you have the old switch (as do I, so no help here either :-( ) |

Maybe Dieter has a picture of the new type switch in his picture archive? |

Will Does it make a difference to my 'hearing' that I have the old type switch:-) Ted |

Ted, I've had the car from new and never had anything done to the brake switch, so it's been like that since new. Keith |
