SOLONAS

Solonas,
Does this happen on both sides or just one ?

I would suggest taking off the wiring loom plug, just follow the wires from the rear lamp unit, and clean the connectors with an electrical spray.
Make sure nothing has rolled around in the boot and damaged the rear of the light unit(s), check the wires one at a time, they are so easy to follow and make sure they are not rubbing against another, or the metal frame of the car creating a short circuit.

Wow!!! Somebody from Cyprus other than me active on the MG Enthusiast BBS!!! What a day for celebration!!! :o)))))))))

MG Cyprus club... Didn't even realise we had such a thing here...?!

Solonas, just a wild guess here, but could it be the rear fog lights that are coming on. Can't remember if that's the 3rd switch you're referring to? Haven't seen me front panel in a month :((((

Drop me an email by the way... would be nice to meet someone else with an F! Was beginning to think i was the only one.

Multiple lamp illumination is typically due to a poor earth somewhere - often the lamps are dimmer than usual too.

I think that this is a case of checking electrical connections with a multimeter...

Ok, Ok, I heard you. LOL

John,
Now, just because you have the numbers, don't you go thinkin' you can start your own MGF club over there!!!

What was this thread about?
Oh thats right, It would appear that you may have a short somewhere. Check out the wiring to the rear light assembly by disconnecting earch in turn and see what happens. Sometimes a visual inspection can work right away, but sometimes it takes a lot more than that to solve an electrical fault.
Get yourself a lamp tester or an ohm/volt meter.
Happy tracing!

Cheers,
Branko.
