MG MGF Technical - burning smell heater
hi could someone help please put the fan on setting one ok. then two got small wiff of burning then it went away 3 4 ok any help is needed darren |

poss some debris got in the heater and landed on the motor speed controller*, it will probably harmlessly burn off. * think of this like three bits of wire from a bar heater, one for each speed. |

where is the motor speed contoller is it in the same location as the resistor? do i have to take the glove box out ? |

I think he means the resistor pack (made up of three coils of wire). They heat up when in use. If something fell on to one of them, it would burn off when that particular resistor became active... |

Darren, If it goes away great, but if it persists you may need to look at the wiring connectors. My mothers old Sierra had a whiff of burning plastic problem on occasions and it turned out to be a bad connection onto the fuse box IIRC causing local melting of the plastic, after cleaning the problem went away. |

i think its the resitor might take it out clean it see what happens thats the problem what does iirc mean cheers |

what screw goes in the resistor pack to hold it in the heater ? |

It's BBS speak for "If I recall correctly" My favourite is IMHO - "In my humble oppinion" :-) |
Sam Murray |
AFAIK it's "Remember", HTH LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 |

BTW, teh internet agrees with both of us: http://dict.die.net/iirc/ but also suggests Isn't It Really Cool If I Read Correctly If I Really Cared If It Really Counts Although I doubt that prople would understand you using it in this way but IANAL |
