MG MGF Technical - Bust flexi

Has anyone fitted just a repair section to the flexipipe?

Looking at it it is oval one end and round the other - did you source one like this or fettle a round at both ends?

Tim Woolcott and I are looking into the possibility of getting Powerspeed of Maidstone to make up an alternative pipe that would take a standard sized (and stronger) flexi. This would mean that if the flexi ever needed replacing you could just chop out the old and weld in the new - saving the cost of a complete new oem pipe with flexi.

The flexi sections we're lookng at are at

Everything is on hold until Tim can get down to Maidstone so that Powerspeed can get a look at the standard oem pipe and flexi arrangement. They'll then quote for manufacturing what we want.

If anyone is local to Maidstone and can pop in so that Powerspeed can look at a standard car that would speed things along :-)

Will,

I've had to put a trip to Maidstone on hold for a few weeks due to a leaking water pump. I've now fitted a new water pump but have managed to put the cam belt back on with the crank pulley one tooth off argh...! I'll be fixing this at the weekend so with luck I might be able to make a trip to Maidstone the following saturday. Can you drop me an email. woolcottt@aol.com

I fear this will be too late, the exhaust is getting very loud now, so measure today, order tomorrow, cut on thursday? If I end up going this route I'll take lots of pics

Rob,

It's on the 'safe' side of incorrect (no contact)..... Makes for a very lump idle.... What are you and your dial gauges doing on Sunday....?

Looks as though they'll be engaged in timing your cams Tim! LOL

The exhaust side is 48mm, the length of the actual flex (excluding interface) is 190mm the other end is 40 high and 60mm wide due to the ovalization. I think I need AM20048L-2TE. I will let you know cost and fitting issues.

Will Munns

Apparently not, I've been advised that the part number includes the "tube end" lengths, and they don't hold stock of 'lined' so:

AM25048ILOKTE

or £50 delivered to you sir
