MG MGF Technical - Car Snaking Problem
Guys, still having problems with the car snaking when taking foot off the throtal and when breaking I believe. Any ideas, could this still be tyre presure/tracking? Regards, MG |

Mike Try getting the four wheel alignment checked first ! I had a similar problem... The tracking cured the snaking effect , the brakes are another matter......... Regards Stu |

Mike I don't know you and apologise in advance if offence is caused but ... why not get somebody else, preferably with an F, to drive your car and see what they think? It could be your car; it could be your roards; it could even be you (this is the bit I apologised for). Try Stu, he's not a million miles from you and is a decent guy (unless he's changed since I last met him). HTH |

The rear geometry could very easily be the culprit here - too little toe-in at the rear. Or the suspension bushes could be in poor condition (how old is your car MG? Might be worth getting the damper bushes checked as well). It does not sound particularly safe, so would urge you to get this looked at ASAP. As Stu says, get a geo check, first (that's assuming that you've already checked the tyre condition, and their pressures?) |

Guys, thanks for the advice. The snaking is not too bad but it is annoying. Me F VVC is R-Reg Rob. Regards, Mike |

I would guess that the rear tie bar bushes are worn or loose. Check the point where you would normally fit compliance washers. If they are worn then the rear wheels will steer the car in different directions with power on to power off. HTH Bruce |

Does anyone where I can get a four wheel alignment in the North West London area and how much is it likely to cost? |

Try Feltham tyres near Heathrow. Tracking there costs about 40 quid all in for 4 wheel alignment. |

I agree Feltham tyres are excellent, I had my alignment and balancing done there only last week, very helpful ! Stu |

@ Mike at first check the ride hight and put it back upwards under winter ambient temperature conditions. |
