MG MGF Technical - checking for cambelt change
Hi, Could anyone tell me how i can check to see if the cam belt has been changed at the 5 year service? I am currently looking to buy and F and the one in mind has been serviced every year but doesn't mention the cambelt change in the service manual. Any helped greatly received!

If its got a full dealer service history then it really should have had the belt changed at its 60k/ Five year service but.......
Bob Millar
Will it mention it specifically in the servide manul or will it just have been stamped?
future owner
No explicit mention, but the service should have been expensive (if they have the recipts)
Will Munns
You could always try phoning the dealer who did the service to check their records!

Bottom line: if you are not confident that the cam belt has been changed at the appropriate service interval (5 years or 60k miles - which ever comes up first) - then either budget to have it replaced, or walk away from the deal. Good luck, and happy hunting!

Future owner, Good luck with the hunt for a car, just remember that this cam belt issue is true for any second hand car, and I think I would follow Robs advice and unless absolutely confident that the cam belt has been changed budget to have it replaced when you aquire the car.
