MG MGF Technical - Chicken or Egg?
Following a realignment of bodywork follwing accident my mgf needs four wheel alignment. I today checked the ride height and discovered that the suspension needs to be 'pumped up'. Which comes first, alignment or inflation? |
Geoff Smart |
Inflation as it will change the tracking. |
C Tideswell |
Inflation, then the alignment. The next question is how high!. |
Andrew Regens |
Geoff, how low is low, and is it equal from one side to the other? |
Rob Bell |
Rob, the fronts are equal at 335mm and the rears likewise at 325mm. It appears that the car is level side to side but with a sagging tail end! Should they be equal all round at 368mm? |
Geoff Smart |
Yes, that is too low. The fronts should be 368mm+/-10mm and the rears 358mm+/-10mm - although setting at around 355 is fine. |
Rob Bell |
Thanks Rob! The car currently has no mot and still needs work before being ready for the test. Are there any members near to Northampton who have a pump for the suspension and who would be willing and able to help me? Help! |
