MG MGF Technical - Clicking when braking ?

Any help please. When i brake i hear a clicking coming from the front area, sound like poss the shocks. Car is at he correct ride height and no leaks from the spheres or shocks. Any one had this problem ?

Could be from cause worn lower wishbone ball joint(s) or worn wheel bearing, or worn track rod end.

Analysis "Howto"
- Jack up the front and secure with axle stands
- rattle the wheel with strong grip up and down (push on top/pull at the bottom
---> any play ?
If so then see for the wishbone ball joint

- rattle the wheel with strong grip sidewards (push on right/pull at the left
---> any play beside of the usual steering movement ?
If so then see for worn track rod ends

--> play in all directions ?
See for worn wheel bearing.

On the other hand:
Check the lower fixture of the shockers. The lower _eye_ is prone to slip off from the rubber bearing.
Could be cured with some big washers to the bolts.

There are some more possible reasons. However, try the above at first and please get back with results.

Couldn't it be your abs clicking in, mine makes a clicking noise when it's about to break traction under breaking.

I've always presumed it was the abs and I know it's not suspension as I've just rebuilt it!

If it's just one "clunk", actually more of a "clink" as you put your foot on the brakes it could just be worn pads rattling about in the calipers as you apply the pressure.

If so just replace them and use some copperease on the back of the bads.

Neil

I was going to suggest exactly what Dieter has mentioned - possibly worn ball joints, but I guess cream-crackered bushes could potentially give similar symptoms?

Thanks all. Bonus points to those who said about the lower shocker bush, mine were loose. Cheers
