MG MGF Technical - Clutch
I have a 1996/7 MGF with 74000 kloms on the clock the car had a new clutch fitted at around 72000, the clutch peddled feels dead and some times it is very hard to engage any gears. The clutch has been bleed to death, there,s no leaks, gearbox oil has been topped up and slick 50 added but the peddle remains the same some times the free play is about an inch of travel. Ny comments would be gladly recieved |

The clutch operating arm which enters the bell housing at the side can seize up, and I suspect that's what is happening to your car. It can be lubricated with a spray lubricant according to Dieter http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http://www.mgfcar.de/index.htm&langpair=deen&hl=de&prev=/language_tools |

That link doesn't seem to work. Try this http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http://www.mgfcar.de/index.htm&langpair=deen&hl=de&prev=/language_tools Then look for Clutch Slave Cylinder down the left hand frame. |

Hmmm, that does the same. This ought to work http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http://www.mgfcar.de/index.htm&langpair=deen&hl=de&prev=/language_tools.de/index.htm&langpair=deen&hl=de&prev=/language_tools |

http://www.mgfcar.de/index.htm This takes you into the site. Look for the English translation button, then look for Clutch slave down the left frame. |
