MG MGF Technical - Coolant query
Just bought a bottle of antifreeze for the F - never really bothered too much about checking the coolant before, but a quick talking to while I was at tech-speed has convinced me that I should be chcking this much more often! The RAVE cd says that you can't use methanol-based coolant - that's fine. But what's all this about not using antifreeze with corrosion inhibitors? Every antifreeze I could find had them added. Is there somewhere I go to buy special CIN-free antifreeze? Cheers, Jamie |

Jamie, also worth asking techspeed; they will hav ethe correct coolant available - afterall they do put in cars after they drain the system. |

Right-ho. Will give Tech-Speed a call. I'll save the stuff full of corrosion inhibitors for the gf's vehicle (15-yr-old VW camper - now there's a change of pace!). Thanks, all. Jamie |

The really old split-screen and the old T2 (bay window) campers were air-cooled, as is the newer big square T25 up until about D reg. After that they're water cooled (thank god). Made damn sure that ours was the new water cooled system - heard too many horror stories about how much the air cooled system costs to replace if (when) the heat sinks go. Jamie Mmm... I've heard about the Porsche plan. Apparently not too expensive to convert, too. Once you've acquired your porsche engine, that is. |
