MG MGF Technical - Cracked Rear Screen
Guys, can you please help, I woke up this morning to a cracked rear screen due to the frost last night. Does anyone know where to buy one, how much and how to fit it??? Many thanks, Mike. |

Mike, the normal suggestions: search Archive, try Brown & Gammon, try Mike Satur, try nearest MGR Dealer (they probably get a local coach trimmer to do theirs), lokk in yellow.com for Coach Trimmers. |

I saw some nice window at Midland MGF yesterday for £100. One good original and a couple of really good third party replacement ones. All you need to do is pop rivet them on to the frame. 0121 585 8734 Tim |

My rear screen went some time ago, and I found a recommendation for a chap called Ron Mudge who will come out and replace your rear screen. I gave him a call and a couple of days later I had a nice new rear screen fitted (and my bank balance was £150 lighter). I think he works around the Berks/ North Hants area, so if this is of any use to you, you can reach him on 0468 082304 (although I guess this may have changed in the great-mobile-number-shuffle). >>I woke up this morning to a cracked rear screen due to the frost last night.<< Mike, did you try and put the roof down without unzipping the rear screen in the cold? If not I'm slightly confused, as your mail seems to imply you found the rear screen cracked when you went to the car this morning. Haven't heard of this happening before with the roof up. Could you elaborate? Hope you get it sorted soon. Soft-top windows (as recommended by others) might be your best bet for the South-East. About £150, for while you wait service. Jim |

... and it should be added that the soft-top windows replacement is with a superior part: the plastic stays pliable at much lower temperatures, and is more flexible than the OEM part anyway. They will also supply for DIY fitting, I think. E |
