MG MGF Technical - Cure for HGF fit Honda engine?

Hello

Havn't been on BBS much recently, last time I was around the go faster lads were fitting a Honda engine.

Is this a feasible option ?

Yes it is, not sure how difficult to DIY it would be, however I understand Mike Satur can do a Civic type R conversion (appx 200 BHP) for around £8500 + VAT.

If you have £15K to spare then it can be done. Alternatively you can keep the K-series and stick £1K in a savings account in case of HGF, and if when you come to sell the car and you haven't needed the money you can treat yourself .
I only know of one F with a honda unit fitted, and IMHO I wouldn't descibe it as a viable option just yet. It could be, but I think it needs a lot more time and money invested in it before it becomes a relaible and cost effective package.
There are several Lotus specialist now offering Honda and Audi engine convertions, dont know how much of the experience gained from these could be used in developing a similar product for the F/TF though?
I have just decided to upgrade my K to 200BHP. I toyed with the idea of a Honda unit but decided against it. Even with the high cost of upgrading my K to a relaible 200BHP it would still work out cheaper to upgrade the K and change the HG every year for the next 7 years then go for the Honda convertion.

Cost effective, well that depends on personal judgement, some say YES( those who have driven it [ and have real taste]) and some say no( the ones who have'nt driven it or want to spend their money on other things) however I dont think reliability has ever been an issue. I heard that it has covered more than 32k miles in 1 months, couple of times to the Nurburg Ring, more than 2k +miles through Europe under Captain Ted and his boss , 1.5k miles chasing CSMGF test driver 'Stig' Clelland through middle Europe. Oh and daily driving to work.

"reliable" I think yes.

Sorry that should have read 12 months

Blimey!

....less than £5000 will get me 420+ bhp in the ZT260

but for the F 200 bhp is the magic number!

Neil

Actually if you have maxed the engine, you might get more/better performance increases by radical weight loss.

There was a guy around here in Gothenburg talking about carbonfibre panels doors etc ....

Also Performance handling solutions were toting a chassis stiffening service, which would have an impact when doing track days, let alone when blasting around country lanes. This again would deliver benefits.

Jeez it's like Gran Turismo4 all this isnt it?
