MG MGF Technical - diesel noise from my vvc
i have an mgf vvc 1996 model. suddenly this morning i have funny nise like diesel from the engin. do you have any idea about this thread ? thanks |

have heard this before here, cause was a plug got loose and rattled like a disel untill it ws so loose that it shot out of the top of the head taking the top part of the thread with it!!! Or it could be your low on oil. Check the oil, if not OK then top up if still diesily then take engine bay cover off and check the tightness of the plugs, none should move with gental pressure. If it's not this I guess it might be a blowing exaust manifold? Will |

Best get the car to a dealership ASAP - another cause of this problem is a loose cam bolt - if it fails completely, it'll cost a fortune to replace the bent parts after the valves impact themselves on the cylinders... :o( |

Had a chat with Mike Satur recently about the cam bolt. Apparently he has managed to track down MGRs supplier who had no idea of the intended use of this item. The reason they go is that the torque setting they are designed for is practically identical to the torque setting they ut on it in the factory 8-O SF |

Ditto Rob's comment. That's exactly what happened to my car. :( |

You need a new ballcock.. Oops sorry, my font is set to small.. that's VVC not WC... |

Tony, he had VVC right not WC. :-) Try copy and paste. |

sounds exactly like mine! was plug working loose, which stripped the thread on the head, knackered both the coil pack and the ecu best part of a grand to get back on road luckily now I'm shot of the car and have something more reliable -matt M66 MAT |
