MG MGF Technical - Distributor Cap

Hi there, I was surprised when popping into LSUK (Lucas) the other day for some service parts, that they no longer list a dizzy cap for an F (and yes it’s an MPi not a VVC!). I’ve had no trouble in the past with buying these locally and their parts book listed ancient models, but no F.

I’m sure I could get one from Mike Satur or B&G’s but this would incur P&P, any ideas on part number or a reason why a motor factor would not list such a common part?

I've checked the archive so as not to waste time but saw nothing on the subject.

Cheers, Russ.

It's i.e. available from BERU
# VK303 (blue coloured)
Rotor arm also with BERU # EVL181

Thanks Dieter, I've contacted BERU to see where I can buy in the UK. I like the blue cap, it will match the SPARCO hose on my induction kit!
My local supplier did not recognise any of the part #'s so I'll wait to hear from BERU or order off from Mike Satur.
It does seem strange that these parts are no longer avaliable for local supply.
Thanks, Russ.

Jeepers, we can't buy new dizzy heads? Eeeekkk!

I am sure that all the usual traders will still have them (?) - and probably also the Lotus Elise suppliers too.

Hmm, might have to make some enquiries as to the state of supply may be next week...

My local LSUK do not stock Bosch or any other European makers bit so it is not surprising that you cannot get non-Lucas parts.
£14.06 from Rimmer Bros or £18.74 from B&G. Where is the problem??

Mate, this is globalisation and logistics !! ;)

We source @ Rimmers or B&G
The UK looks for sources on _mainland_

... and the winner is ... UPS or FEDEX.

:o)

After Dieter's recommend I bought x 2 Bremi caps at £5.49 + £2.68 for the rotor arm, if supply is drying up I figured having a spare set would be prudent.

While everyone has to make a living I do object to some of the mark ups, £18.74 for a dizzy cap, crikey!

BTW, I think I've got the last 2 blue ones in the country as I'm informed future ones will be black.

Thanks for your help Dieter...
