MG MGF Technical - Dodgy Brakes
When I took my F out for a spin last night the first time I pressed the brake pedal it went down to the floor and consequently I had no brakes. I pressed the pedal a few times and everything returned to normal? There are no leaks anywhere and the fluid level is still on the max. All I can think of is that the pistons had withdrawn into the calipers for some reason whilst its been parked up for the last 3 days. The brake fluid was changed at the last service (around 6mths ago). Has anyone else had this problem or know why it happened? |

Pumping the pedal normally means that you have air in the system and it needs bleeding. It goes without saying that you should get this seen to ASAP! Tim. |

I hear what you say but how can air be drawn into the system when its been parked up and wouldn't the brakes feel spongy if this was the case? I probably misled you slightly by saying I pumped the pedal - basically the pedal went to the floor, then on the second press it went almost to the floor and on the third press it was nearly back to normal operation and on the fourth press it was fine and has been ever since. You are certainly right in saying that it needs sorting ASAP however!!! Cheers |

Take it up to the mgf centre to sort it. Duncan. |

Duncan, Ross is looking for advice, he did not ask about recomended garages to take his MGF to. Every thread I look at lately has your name recomending the MGF Centre. Lets hope you're getting commission. Carl. |

Carl, No I don't get commission. I am only reccomending where Ross may be able to get his problem sorted out. Duncan. |
