MG MGF Technical - Door Cappings

Can anyone tell me where to purchase alloy door capings for my TF?? For some reason mine doesn't have any? Can they be fitted onto my door pod?

I purchased mine from the MGF Centre however thay came attached to the door cards, £80 the pair.

Give Victoria a ring there may be some damaged cards which have the trim intact and she may sell seperately, worth a try.

Another option would be to buy the cards complete then sell yours as people are always looking to upgrade from Mk I to Mk II and the pods are removeable so can be covered to match the interior of any car.

TJ - which model TF do you own? If a 115, then you'll need complete new door cards from a breaker such as the MGF Centre or Midlands MGF etc etc.

If you have a 135 or 160, then you only need to get the bright trim - which is obviously cheaper. MGF Centre sell silver painted items which look superb, or you can source some MGF MY2000 items (which is what I did).

I am confused...what ARE the alloy door cappings you're referring to???

SimonKE

Simon,

Click on the link in Rob's posting (immediately above yours), they are shown on there.

The term 'door cappings' is a little confusing as they are not cappings in the traditional sense. They are a cap to the door pad (rather than the door card), as fitted originally to the MY2K MGF and carried over to the current higher spec TFs. They come in a number of different finishes, Rob's ones are brushed alloy, but they can be body coloured (as in a Trophy 160) or timber or black.

I'll need to have a look at lunch-time...my TF160 came with the bright pack but doesn't have (real)alloy "cappings", just light-grey (alloy coloured??) plastic bits (from memory)....

The alloy ones are alloy 'look' not actual alloy.
The ones in my TF are the rough black 'technical' finish. Considering changing them for some body coloured ones in the near future.

Confused? You will be;-)
The 'alloy' cappings fitted to the F was a thin veneer of aluminum pressed onto a plastic backing panel, this had a brushed and anodised finish. If I am correct the TF has had the accountants designing the interior and this aluminium finish is now sprayed on as the dash panels are.
The F ones are a lot nicer IMO.The carbon fibre ones are cool to.
Steve the parts can be removed and refinished by your local paint shop or nip over to Wolverhamton ;-)
