MG MGF Technical - Door pins/buttons?
Sorry more questions. Fitted some nice new door cards to my F today and thought While am at it, will fit some nice shiny door pins/ buttons. The ones I got are threaded but the old plastic ones wont unscrew. Seen many Fs with them on so How do you fit them ?. TIA (again). |

Look @ http://www.mgfcar.de/door_panel/index.htm However, it's easier to drill out the thread and adher the Jaguar pins with two component epoxy on the shafts. Remove old pins with a gripper and cut to correct length at first though. HTH Dieter |

hi mark,i fitted some about 3 months ago, they don,t actually unscrew, they are a sort of tight fit but with no screw thread. i used a pair of pliers, using a turning ,and pull at the same time sort of method.the original ones are now all chewed up by this point.I then used a tap and die kit to thread the metal rod to accept the door pins. From what i remember,i shortened the rod a bit and the rod i bent at an angle while i re threaded it,and then bent it back in position.IF you got them from the guy on ebay, they will be the same as i fitted. cheers .. mel .. |

Mark, When you fit the metal pins, wrap plumbers PTFE tape several times round the bottom. This will stop them rattling against the hole. Sam |

Good point IMO. Other spezial for MGF made aftermarket pins have a rubber O-ring mounted to prevent from rattling noise. |
