MG MGF Technical - Door Speakers

Since buying my 1.8 in Dec 2003, I've done a few mods inside and out.

The speakers covers in the doors are covered in material, (My car is 1999) and I have seen on the later cars, with the revised door cards, that the factory speaker covers are metal.

Does anyone know if it is possible these later factory speaker covers would fit on my older F, and whether it is possible to buy such covers from the Rover parts section (if so, a part number if anyone knows would also be great)

Thanks in advance

Paul,

I think the standard speaker grills are black plastic.

You can get several after-market options from people like Mike Satur, which include different finishes.

I am sure these would fit your car.

Good luck.

All factory speaker covers are made of plastic Paul. In fact, this is true of all MG Rover cars ever built with the solitary exception of the Rover 200 BRM special edition. In fact, these are the speaker grilles that I have on my car, but I paid a big price to get them! :o(

As Sam says, Mike Satur does a range of rather more affordable alternatives that you might want to take a look at - see Mike's web site for more details - http://www.mikesatur.co.uk/

Just pull the material off the speaker cover, underneath is a Black plastic cover with holes in it, looks better IMO.

Out of curiosity, what size are the standard front door speakers (and also the ones in the T-Bar?)?
J Ip

Door speakers are 165mm in diameter. Not sure about the standard MY2000 rears?
Rob Bell

I think 6"x4" rear, front speakers are shared with the Rover 200

Just gone through the archives: the rear speakers are indeed 6x4"s :o)
