MG MGF Technical - Door trim

Hi all,

I'm suffering with "up window glass squeak" syndrome and intend to take the door trim off and give everything a damned good spraying with liquid silicone. However, having never taken the trim off before and not being able to find a guide on it, is it a case of brute force over ignorance, or is there a releasing mechanism of sorts.

Thanks for any help.

Matt.

Hi Matt
It is not a hard job u will need a phillips screwdriver, first there are two screws that need to be undone on the door pull then one behind the chrome handle you might need to hold the handle open with one hand while unscrewing with the other, there are four on the trim itself one high left one low left and two along the runners, after this step then gently pull the card u will feel some resistance along the bottom as there are retaining clips(blue clips) that hold the trim to the door also as u are pulling look over the top of the door and disconnect the tweeter wire.U can then spray away and also tighten any nuts that are loose.

Its would also be a good time to change the window stops if not already done (unless your car is post MY2000 in which case it should have the later design ones fitted already)

Thank you both.

Thats what I like to see, very well laid out step-by-step instructions.

Thanks again.

Steve, are you referring to the MkIII stops?

Good idea, yet another trip to Witham Ind Est then. Hope the suns out ...

>>Steve, are you referring to the MkIII stops?<<

Yes there the ones, the later 3 piece ones, not the earlier white/orange one piece ones ;)

The part numbers for the bits should be in the archive somewhere..............
