MG MGF Technical - Driveshaft oil Seals
Hi, My F is in for its 48k service and apparently my drive shaft oil seals need replacing. I would rather do this myself, and would be grateful of any "top tips" or instructions on how to do the job. Thanks, Rog. |

I am told it is an easy job - about 30 minutes a side BUT there are two different types of drive shaft and seals depending on the age of the car. Ted |

Hi Ted, Thanks for replying. FYI Mine is a 99 T. Rog. |

By the way, I have already checked the archives, but cant find anything!! I understand that Ted was planning to do this as a DIY - Ted, did you? Rog. |

In the end I gave it to the dealer to do as I was running short of time before going on a long trip. Ted |

It is a fairly uncommon seal to fail on later cars like yours (rather more familiar to us owners of older cars - and even then, a number were usually replaced under warranty). Unfortuantely, I can't help you with handy tips :o( However, you have a car that needs the later seal type. Have you got a workshop manual Roger? If not, I'd highly recommend you get one - a hugely valuable resource. :o) |

Hi Rob, Cheers for that, I havent managed to lay my hands on one yet - Does anyone have a digital version (even just the bit on diff seals would be great) Rog. |
