MG MGF Technical - Early F Injector part number
Hi there I am trying to locate some new early F injectors. Evidently the early F injectors were good for 200bhp but the late TF160 injectors are only good to 170bhp I have recently fitted a new TF160 engine and had the head tweaked somewhat. Last week I spent the day at Emerald having there ECU fitted and the mapping done. It was only when we were at 100% injector duration at 6400rpm we realised what the problem was. We had to back off a bit until I can source some older injectors, hopefully quickly as I am working close to Emerald next week and we can finish the mapping. Does anyone know the part number of the early and late injectors so I can make sure I source the right ones ! Stu P.S. All going well I should be scratching 180bhp and 150ftlb torque with the bigger ones fitted. It's at 174bhp and 146ftlb now |

According to Dieter's EPC, the part number you're after is MJY100640 - although I am confused by the fact that all the injectors are listed as 1800 ccm? Later injectors should surely have a lower flow rate specification? |

Thats what I am thinking Rob ! You would think the spec would be different? |
Stu Dickens |
Definitely! |

Not sure on the parts numbers but I know they are differnet colours. The newer ones are blue, and the older ones beige. May be worth seeing if Dave Andrews has any. FYI Few of the Catererham owners use Bosch 744 injectors which apparently flow even more than the older VVC injectors. |

Good call Steve I'll give DVA a call in the morning see what he suggests. Stu |

@ Rob, all the entries on site with "K Series - - 1800 ccm - Trophy VVC - " are failures from *the source* and not removed yet. From other files, MJY100640 is until VIN YD522572 (Trophy) Anyway, site reworked now. Would be great to complete with the correct coulour code. http://www.mgfcar.de/epc/5862.htm |

Thanks Dieter. That dear old EPC - full of little entertaining errors and anomalies... ;o) Need to confirm the colour codes - I presume that all the injectors are Bosch parts? Or were they Lucas? |
Rob Bell |
I spoke to DVA this morning, he was most helpful (thanks again Dave) The earlier injectors are Bosch and are a fawn or Beige colour. The late injectors are blue. DVA has suggested fitting my old ones even though they have seen 100k+ With a clean up he thinks they will be fine so I plan to go down that road. Stu |

Well, that'll save you a few pennies Stu :o) |

So which injectors can be found, as I lost the track somewhere. - beige coloured - blue coloured (thought those were used when power was expected from 160bhp and above) |
Erik |
Erik, the original beige injectors are good for 200bhp, whereas the blue ones (perhaps paradoxically) are only good for 180bhp. Strange that the more powerful TF160 should run injectors with less performance potential, but it was a change performed to ensure that that car passed emissions requirements for EU4 - and clearly this paid off in spades when you come to compare the CO2 emissions of the MGF VVC and the TF VVC... |
Rob Bell |
Cool, thanks Rob. Thank god I lost some auctions for a set of blue ones. |
