MG MGF Technical - Eeeeeewwwww!!

Firstly my apologies for posting this with out searching through the archives, as I know that it's a common prob, but I am @ work & can't remember my usermane & password.

The winter has set in & we appear to have sprung a leak, in fact we appear to have sprung several leaks. One through the seal on the drivers side door, one in the drivers side foot well & a particularly maloderous one in the boot.

Details of how to irradicate the soggy mess before we start sprouting new flora & fauna in there would be most appreciated.

Thanks All

Sally,

I have exactly the same problems....and am fed up of it to be honest. When I get in the car now I have to take a towel to sit on. When I open the boot I have to hold my nose. The shame of it!

This may be of some help: http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/common_problems/water_leaks/leaks_index.htm

Some bits are missing since laptop HD crash - must get round to fixing all of that... D'oh!

Interesting to see that it's 2 girls who have water ingress issues....hmm!

Keeping the water out of convertibles is a difficult and delicate matter, not helped by things such as wear and tear age and the dodgy window stops.
ALSO water will get in ANYWHERE where there is the tiniest gap

BUT it can be fixed!

My F does not leak and the roof and seals are approaching 9 years old. this is achieved by a subtle combination of carefully looking after everything about the roof, AND having a REALLY good go at the dealer to get it right!!

I put it down to kitten heels poking holes in the floor myself :-))

Mike have you tried taking 'em off when you are driving?? ;-))

LOL guys! I know Fiona, it's revolting stinks like cat pee too uuurgh! We hadn't had the prob of the boot letting in water until we had the back end bumped so it's possible that the panels may not have been fitted completely flush. The poor car wants a serious clean out, I am ashamed to admit that it hasn't been done since MGR serviced it 4 weeks ago & it's staring to look like it's been taken offroading, so we shall do some further investigating this weekend.

Cheers
