MG MGF Technical - Engine Caput
I was sitting at traffic lights and noticed a knocking in the engine. It was afairly loud tap at low revs. On higher revs, this went quieter. I risked the mile home but I think that may have been an error. The noise disappeared and I lot some power. I ended up with smoke coming from the exhaust and the engine died. Any thoughts on how catastrophic this is before I dare look in the engine? |

Sorry to say that this sounds very very expensive :o( It does sound as though one or more of the valves has decided to get passionate with a piston crown :o( May be new engine time - and in which case, the MGFC could be your best buddy... |

What is the MGFC out of interest? |

MGF Centre: http://www.mgfcentre.com/ Their engines are usually pretty new and low mileage - certainly a much cheaper option than buying new from MG Rover. |
