MG MGF Technical - engine id
I have an engine ID# 1G11809 RM021243 (first line) Second line: 1200 CC Does this belong to the MG engine series??? Thanks. Dan |

Sorry Dan, looks like this is in the wrong section - no K-series engines used that style of engine number. Is this an A-series block? |

Thanks for the info so far. However, I am coming up without an auto to match the engine. I removed the engine from the car 30 years ago, shortly after that the body was bulldozed into a ravine and covered. Cute little 4 banger with OHV. It will be difficult to restore without a lead to the make. Any additional help will be greatly appreciated. Dan |

i would point any further research towards Honda, I think a 1G series 1200cc motor could be from a series 1 Honda Civic.... hope this helps mike |

The valve cover has a brass plate with British patents for the combustion chamber and connecting rod bearings. I searched the Britsh Patent Office and found the comb chamber was patented in 1944 to a HENRY WESLAKE, but there the trail got cold. There were hundreds of car companies after the war in Europe and the US, so it may be one of the makes which lasted only a short while. |

Can you post a picture somewhere. Also what material are the block and head, is it crossflow or not. Any casting marking like the maker or casters logo. |
