MG MGF Technical - Engine Lopsided - HELP!

So,

Driving along in my TF160 and i hear a bang on in th engine bay. Things did not sound good so i stopped, had a look ...... the engine was tilted... lower on teh drivers side. I notice that the bolt that go into what looks likethe cam belt thing on the drivers side of the engine seem to have sheared.

Anyone heard of this happening?

Engine mount has collapsed? Yikes - no, not heard of a failure like this before. Should be easy to sort out though, fortunately.

Not had the cam belt or water pump changed recently have you??

Yes Rob, we have heard about this just some time ago. Most certainly in the archive,a guy who just came from his garage after a cambelt change (?) had this happend to him. We discussed if they could had fitted the bolt with crossed windings as the bolt had sheared. Not possible for me to log in due to being at work,otherwise I would had looked it up in the archive. Did also contribute myself in that thread... / BR Carl.

hello again,
repair cost £355, £185 of which was labour. Parts replaced included arm assembly, mountings and aux drive belt which had been damaged through rubbing.
the movement of the engine also bent the dipstick tube, so the total cost of sorting this could go as high as £400.

MGR manual says to renew these bolts. My MGR technicaian tells me they never do. Some locktight“ll do he said.
