MG MGF Technical - Engine will not cut out
When I turn the Ign key off after starting the car mainly on damp days the engine keeps running even after complete removal of the key. Stalling the car is the only way of turning the engine off. Any idea ? I thought a sticking or defective relay and I changed the relay unit that is located at the MEMS unit but the problem still happens. |

Is the engine just running on David, or simply not switching off? |

Not switching off... it's just telling you it wants to be driven more ;-) |

What else stays on David - eg lights, radio, heater fan etc If any/all of above it may be the ignition switch itself. Try squirting loads of WD40 up the keyhole. Good luck, jt |

Does it stay nice and stable, or does it splutter? If it splutters it could be petrol mixed with diesil - not filled up at ASDA have you? |

Guys Thanks for the responses. When I remove the key from the ign the engine turns over as normal and everything works as if its running normal. When the car heats up or on a dry day it works fine. It always appears to happen on damp days (Which is pretty often in Scotland!) |
