MG MGF Technical - Exhaust fumes
Yesterday, Saturday I took part in the MGFest 07 road run. Brilliant Tim! Although in my home vicinity I still saw some countryside for the first time! The only thing that marred my enjoyment was exhaust fumes. I have an MGF but with the windows and windstop up fumes were being drawn over the boot into the cockpit. With the windows down - no problem. My exhaust is a stainless SP Performance which protrudes to the rear no more than many others I noticed at the MGFest. Does anyone else out there suffer from this or has someone else suffered and discovered a remedy? If not can anyone advise of a possible remedy? Thanks in anticipation! |

PS. I do have a front splitter! Could this be a factor? |

That's on odd one, I suppose if the manifold or downpipes were leaking it could be sucking air out of the boot vents and forwards - does it "chuff" at all when cold? |

Hi Tony, No leaks on either manifold or exhaust. |

Are you sure it is exhaust fumes as they tend not to smell anymore except when cold? It might be a breather hose off somewhere instead? |

Since my days as an apprentice in the late 60s I have never been afraid to ask stupid questions, they are easier to deal with than stupid mistakes, so here goes..... Was it the car in front? Adam |

Thanks Adam. I'm afraid not. I only wish it was that simple! Geoff.S |
