MG MGF Technical - F-TF mods
Got a chance to get the TF(160) on the ramp to-day ,there are quite a few mods on the F :-the gear cable is shorter and better supported ,should help cables snapping, the bell crank is of a different design as well although the gear cable ends are still c*rap, there is a oil cooler plumbed in to the water cooling circuit and this is located on the back of the engine, obviously this will help with possible HGF/overheating problems.Rad looks larger capacity made from ali as well. That's all for now ffffolks. mike.

Steve and i looked at the rear engine comparment bracing bars, they looked like they could be easy to retrofit aswell.

Interesting observations Mike, nice one :o) We've heard before that the TF160 possessed an oil cooler - but I had no idea that it was an water/oil cooler rather than the air/oil cooler used by MGR in the past for the MGF. Very interesting. All I want to know now is what the part numbers are :o) (Okay, knowing how much the parts cost would be nice too...) Mike, any chance of some pix? :o)

Pics? sure it is still on the ramp so when I get a minute,LOL, I'll do it.Prices too. Had a thought if anyone is still waiting for gear cables use the TF ones and order the bell crank as well, should work better:-# On second thoughts just wait for my new gearshift kit, lol. Mike.

| Pics? Pics? Pics? Pics? Pics? Pics? :) Me as well, please ! Costs at MGR will be insane as always, but the location and dimensions will be interesting. I bet it's a Mocal or another already found marque (See archives). Can't see any reason to design a special MGR water/oil cooler. BTW related to the other thread, it was the VX220 which has one. | I'm sure that you are right about the cooler's origins Dieter - although I have to say that the Mocal installations I've 'seen' (websites for Elise installations) have mounted these units on the front of the block rather than the rear, and use a oil filter adapter ring... Mike, that'd be excellent, cheers! :o) I'm certainly interested in this mod for longevity reasons - with track days in mind... :o) |
