MG MGF Technical - Fan 1,2 Broken. 3,4 Okay!?!?
As a follow on from my recent overheating and coolant spill I checked the usual fuses, both okay. I have not yet looked at the temp sensor, but........... I noticed while driving home that settings 1 and 2 on the cabin fan dont work, but 3 and 4 do. Why would this be? Anyone? Thanks very much BBS |

This has nothing to do with fuses but a relay way behind the dash, I've had this problem for over a year but have learnt to live with it. When I need to strip down the dash I will deal with it. |

Your joking. This is just an extra problem? Also dash removal is an a big pain in the rear. Thanks for the advice though Andrew! |

Just checked the archives. Looks like I need a resistor pack. Cant be bothered with soldering for the sake of 20 quid. haha, the only good thing I can say about my F at the moment is that Im learning alot about DIY repair. Still could use all the advice I can get from you guys though! |

No need to remove the dash to replace the resistor pack. Did mine the other week. You do though need to remove the glove box (or at least you do on a UK model). A fiddle to get to but the resistor pack is on the left hand back side of the heater unit and two screws hold it in. On left hand drive model, you may need to remove the pedals to give access?? |

Getting to the resistor pack is an easy job if your car has no aircon. If it has air con, (as Australian models do), then it is a P.I.T.A. to get to. Not for the faint hearted or the unbending framed person. :-) Cheers, Branko |

I thought that as the question came from HK it would have A/C so that is why it's P.I.T.A as I'm large and unbending. If someone can give me an easy fix I would gladly try it as I have A/C. |

I imported mine from UK so it still needs a/c.........another job another day.......... Time to get the glove box out for now though! |
