Leigh, I have just bought a MGF and have the same problem. It seems like the fault lies within the resistors failing. Seems like you have to remove & replace. Problem is I cannot find the resistors on my MGF. I know they are located behind the glove box but my model has air con & I think slightly different. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Cheers, Steve. |

Steve's right, it's a common problem. I'll get round to doing mine one day ;o) Good instructions here: http://www.apttony.co.uk/Servicing/HeaterFan.html The resistor pack should be easily visible once the right-angled duct is removed, but whether that's the same on AC equipped cars I have no idea. Let us know how you get on. |

Thanks to you both for the advice, and link and the PDF too.. Def will give it ago, and let you know how I get on. Leigh |

I found it quite useful last winter, 5 deg C and the top down but I admit the fan was on high not low:-) |

A fan heater is nearly as useful in a convertible as a spell checker to those making offensive posts…. |

Why it should bother rude Mr Griffiths that some MGF drivers like to keep warm is beyond me. One of the best parts of the F as far as I'm concerned is that you can drive top down on a bright, cold morning and not freeze your ears off. With the side windows up and the rear deflector in place, the heater produces gales of hot air and I don't get cold at all. Mike |
