MG MGF Technical - FAO Rob Bell
Rob did you get the welds on the exhaust manifold removed and if so has it made a difference. If I have time I'm going to tackle it this weekend. |

Hi Bob, yes I did. And yes, it has made a surprising difference (I wasn't expecting all that much). I seem to have gained some low/mid range torque, and the point at which the torque curve starts to severely tail off (was about 4500-4750rpm) has been raised (now about 5000rpm) - so I'm pleased with that. Also, the other thing that I've noted is that the engine note is a little ouder, plus the engine reasonance that usually effects K-series engines between 3-4000 rpm has altered a little - concentrating more at 3000rpm (becoming a little louder) but as a consequence the car is much quieter at 4000rpm... Well worth doing this modification - but don't expect nitrous-like performance changes! ROFL ;o) |

I assume you've had it on the RR since then. Any BHP/ Torque figures? |
Bob Millar |
No - not had a chance yet (the work was done just before Christmas). Planning to 'do' another day at the Aylesbury RR - so will see the results then. Are you interested in coming along? Not booked anything yet - but perhaps March/April time? |

> Are you interested in coming along Lol! I think a 773 mile round trip for a RR session is a tad excessive but thanks for the offer. I've got one 6 miles away so I think I'll go for that! |

>>I think a 773 mile round trip for a RR session is a tad excessive << I would have thought that a real enthusiast would have jumped at any chance to go for a little run in their car :-) What do you think Rob? |
