MG MGF Technical - Fascia Rattle MG TF
My 2004my TF 135 has a rattle under passenger side fascia that sounds like marble in bottle......can't be cross member can it, MGR resolved this? Tried clamping with exhaust clamp but keep stripping threads before tight enough to cure....if this is problem! any suggestions? |

They did fix it, so it's likely something else. Loose wiring is an obvious culprit, but I've also found coins etc get stuck in the lid of the glovebox (they fall in through the cassette storage holes) and rattle around! Also, are you sure it's behind the dash? Hood rattles can sound like they are coming from all over the place, try with the hood down and see if the noise persists. Cheers, Tim |

Tim, Found the problem to be top left hardtop clamp.....adjusted to tighten a rattle gone.....sounds like a new car. Thanks Stuart |

Isn't it amazing how the source of a rattle can be so deceptive. I was convinced I had a rattle coming from my passenger door, but it turned out to be the mechanism under the passenger seat. |

>>Tim, Found the problem to be top left hardtop clamp.....adjusted to tighten a rattle gone.....sounds like a new car. Thanks Stuart I was going to suggest that, it happened on my F, the noise transmits down through the windscreen. |

The rear view mirror is another common cause of rattles and seems to reverberate through the screen - that can make it sound like the car is falling apart! Fixed mine with an old train ticket torn up and folded in half to pack out the mounting. Cheers, Tim |
