MG MGF Technical - Fitting ITG Air Induction Kit
Dear Sirs, Madames I have just ordered the ITG Air Induction Kit. I was just wondering if anyone knows any particular tips and hints when installing it. Where it shall be installed, how and so on. I want to be prepared when it arrives. The same goes when installing a new TB 52mm aswell. Any things that you have to do, and things that should not be carried out? Help appreciated! Cheers Philip / RRE 634 (SWE) / R361NGF, if I remember right (London)/ |

| You're going to have a great time! the instructions for the ITG are very good and should be fine for installing trouble free. As for the throttle body just remember to pry out the retaining pin on the sensor connector first |

| Can anyone please tell what a TB 52mm is? |
| Tim |
| TB = Throttle Body 52mm = size of TB on Trophy and presumably TF c.f. standard MGF (1.8 and VVC) TB is 48mm HTH Dave |

Hi Kingsley, thanks for your reply. According to you, there should be no problems with the ITG kit. Great! But when you mentioned this "As for the throttle body just remember to pry out the retaining pin on the sensor connector first" I got horrified. Being an amateur and not a mechanic I have not got a single clue what you are talking about. Well I will probably understand it, when having examined the "Throttle Body" (TB) when it arrives. Well, if I have any problems I now where to go. Cheers Philip RRE 634 By the way, what did you think about the England-Sweden game? ENG - ARG will be quite interesting. SWE - NIG on Friday... well well. |

| http://www.mgfcar.de/throttle/index.htm covers almost stuff from the GM TB. Though, far below on that site are pictures of the 52mm body. There is many confusion here currently about the part numbers and former application. On last sunday, I saw a german registered MGF Trophy with a plastic flap. I wonder why. Thought they should be all with the metal thingy. Regards Dieter |

| Nothing too hard - don't mean to scare you! if you look at this picture http://www.mgfcar.de/throttle/swap_6460.jpg you'll see a metal bar oh the right this is a clip that holds the wiring to this http://www.mgfcar.de/throttle/throttle_pot_jzx3491_4021.jpg It just slides out so you can easily remove the wiring. i struggled for a while before i realised you have to remove it - pull gently/prise with screwdriver. other than that all you should need is an 8mm (iirc) spanner. reset the ecu once your done. ignition on - fully depress the accelerator 3(?) times - ignition off - wait a minute then start engin (i think the above procedure is right - someone will say if it's not) You can fit the throttle body without removing the main engine cover, but you will def need to take it off to do the itg. |

Thanks Kingsly, Well now it seems to be achievable. The photos were very helpful. Have you changed the TB yourself? Well well, I will carry out this "process", changing the TB and installing the ITG kit, in 2 weeks time. Then I will finally be meeting my VVC again. It is situated in Sweden, and I am here in the UK. Nightmare. I must bring it over. Last question, I have problems with closing the doors when the roof is up. According to the MGF fanatics at Rover the dilemma should come from a broken windowstopper. Correct or? Do you know were I can buy these things? how many do I need? will they be terribly expensive? Cheers yet again Kingsley! Philip |

| Try Brown & Gammons www.ukmgparts.com search for "window stop". Seem cheap to me. |

| Kingsley, Recalibrate the ECU by ignition on, fully depress throttle 5 times within ten seconds and ignition off. HTH Bruce |

| Cheers Bruce I knew it was something like that - havn't done it in so long. :) need another upgrade obviously |
| Kingsley |
| Kingsley, MGR use to charge me £100 to do that recalibration. Now I know! Bruce |

Hi everyone! I just recieved my ITG air Induction Kit, andf a new TB 52mm. Brilliant. I am having a grin that connects to my ears. ( also because of Englands game, and Sweden vs. Nigeria this morning I am swedish you see.) Well, I will be installing these toys in 1½ week. I will tell you later on how I am proceeding with the fittings. Thanks anyway Kingsley and Bruce for the helpful hints. Cheers! Philip |
