MG MGF Technical - Fitting rear complience washers
I'm sure this must have been covered, but can anybody tell me about fitting rear complience washers to my Trophy? I'm aware I will need to have it 4 wheel Laser alinged after, but need new Boots ( see other thread) anyway so want to do this first. Thanks |

Ian, try Dieter's site: http://www.mgfcar.de/lowering1/compliance_washer.htm They're pretty straightforward to fit - and Dieter's photo-sequence is very eloquent :o) |

Yep, it is. Would still recommoend after having done 85.000km with them. Got them in just at the beginning an nothing else modded with the suspension, but this *tie bar blockage* and the lowering knuckles. The alignment at dealers or tyre shops is much more precise and easy works than without. The staff there will _kiss_ you :) (unfortunately almost no female alignment craftsman availiable .. LOL) |

Ian I have a set of compliance washers brand new from Brown+ Gammons that I don't need, had polybushes instead, let me know if you are interested. Andy |

Tried to fit mine last weekend but the nut at the back of the tie bar was completely rusted/siezed up. Tried flo-gas releaser but to no avail. Just have to wait til next service. :-( |

Thanks guys, did it this morning - no problems took about 20 mins each side with the wheels off and up on axel stands. I got them on, tightened and then backed off the chassis mounting bolt about half a turn, put the wheels back on, took it off the axel stands before finnaly tightening them. I used a 13mm 1/4 drive socket and a long ratchet to finnaly tighten the bolt with the car on the ground, a bit fidelly to get the socket on but doable. Now need new boots and to get it 4 wheel laser aligned - but even now it feels so much better, so much less tram lineing and movement over our wonderfull roads. Now for some adustable shocks!!!! New Thread. |

Ian, immidiately go for the 4-wheel alignment ASAP. The rear will be huge toe OUT after adding the washers. Take care and don't drive fast. |
