MG MGF Technical - For a fellow car owner...
Folks, Anyone know a garage in the cambridge area that will fit brake pads that you supply. He's phoned a lot up (kwikfit, ats etc) that say they will only fit their own supplied pads.. Cheers ps. he's got a vx220 not an mg... and he's on mintex pads. |

Any small 'one man band' would be only too pleased to make a few quid Here in WGC, the guy across the road from my office will do almost anything you pay him to do. |

Replacing pads on a VX is probably the same procedure as on the Elise - assuming that it uses the same AP Racing front caliper. If so, it is a pretty easy DIY... :o) |

Has he phoned local garages? The brake parts are standard equipment, so as long as the pads are from a reputable supplier I doubt that a good local would have any trouble. A flexiable garage I have used in the past is the Acorn in abington. Also there is a good one a friend uses in Milton. |

Just to say thanks for replies JP, Rob and Will... He's going to try the "diy" route over the weekend... so I hope it works out ok because I've been in the VX (turbo) when he's been driving and he definately needs good brakes!! I almost had to change my undies afterwards... Chris. |

Chris, does he have the manual for the car? IIRC, the Lotus Elise manual is on-line and available to download in pdf format. :o) |

Rob, Nope, I don't believe he does... can you email me a link at all to that? Cheers Chris |
