MG MGF Technical - front end knock

i have a nasty knocking on the front end of the car after i have made a turn in either direction, not when the car is turning only after the turn has been made and the wheels are straight??????

A failed wheel bearing makes an awful knocking sound.

or could be a worn track rod end. had that knock on mine. replaced new ends shes great now. anyone wanting good xparts call the rimmer bros cheap

Obvious question... have you checked that the spare wheel and tool kit are properly secured? Its amazing how many knocking noises from the front can be attributed to these moving around!

many thanks for the info guys, i have had the car inspected by a MG Rover technician, and i have a broken front Stabilizers bar also the ride height is to low maybe causing undue stress in this area.

Darren, what kind of knocl did worn track rod end give? Small consisent tappety feel?
David Peters

yep it was like a little knock as you described. plenty off play to be had on the drivers side. replaced shes ok now. make sure you replace in pairs.

I recently changed the upper suspension ball joint. It showed some slack upon trying to move the wheel up and down.
Thatīs out of the way now.

Now the track rod ends.... How can you be sure these are the cause. Checking the ball joints for play was easy, just jiggle the wheel up and down, but track rod ends? Itīd have to be an guestimation then? Or is there something to it?

cheers,
david.
