A failed wheel bearing makes an awful knocking sound. |

Obvious question... have you checked that the spare wheel and tool kit are properly secured? Its amazing how many knocking noises from the front can be attributed to these moving around! Ralph |

many thanks for the info guys, i have had the car inspected by a MG Rover technician, and i have a broken front Stabilizers bar also the ride height is to low maybe causing undue stress in this area. |

I recently changed the upper suspension ball joint. It showed some slack upon trying to move the wheel up and down. Thatīs out of the way now. Now the track rod ends.... How can you be sure these are the cause. Checking the ball joints for play was easy, just jiggle the wheel up and down, but track rod ends? Itīd have to be an guestimation then? Or is there something to it? cheers, david. |
