MG MGF Technical - Front Inner Tyre Wear

I wonder why my front tyres' inner treads have worn right down. Since spotting this I've had the tracking checked, but it's dead on parallel.
Has anyone else experienced this, and can shed some light? Mine's a 2001 Trophy.
I'm suspicious of the ride height, knowing how temperature can affect the Hydrogas... Can anyone help?

I think all F's have this to some extent, this is inherent to the Camber of the wheels.

This is standard non-adjustable, except when you buy a pair of these:

Ride height comes into the story as well, but this will keep changing with temperature changes.

Johan, that track control arm fits to the rear of the car - there is no solution for camber compensation for the front of the car.

In any case, inner edge tyre wear is not particularly due to adverse camber - although it is contributory. The main problem is toe-angle, and the way that toe-angles change through suspension compression.

David, I am surprised that you are seeing tyre wear with parallel front toe-angles. Who did your tracking for you - and how confident are you in their techniques? If tyre wear persists, and the ride height for your Trophy is correct, then you can use toe-in at the front (0 degrees 5 minutes works well).

Rob is right, I had the same problem a while ago and had mine tracked to this BBS's recommendation rather than the MGR setting and am still using the same (worn) tyres.

In other words, the uneven wear stopped.

Hi David,

It looks as if the other guys have pretty much covered everything, I had exactly the same problem awhile ago and solved it after some investigation by having the toe-in set to 0 rather than the 5 degrees specified for the F.

I think I’m right in saying this is the standard setting for the TF.

Cheers, Russ.
