MG MGF Technical - front suspension grease nipples
Hi guys. Can one of you knowledgeable types give me some info regarding what I believe are 4(?)grease nipples on the front suspension of an F? I assume if one takes off the black plastic shroud covering the air con capsule/suspension pump up valves the nipples can be found -but where to look?Presumably the car has to be jacked up and on axle stands with wheeels off? I have a flexible grease gun filled with Retinax A(from working on my old MGB).Is this ok? I'm not sure if greasing these nipples is part of a 12 thou service but in any case assume that more frequent greasing would not be a problem, once I know how to do it!!! Any advice would be welcomed |

I thought they were on the upper wishbone, accessable through the wheel arch (with the wheel removed). I confess it's been a while since i last looked. SF |

According to the rave cd, the grease nipple is in the upper wishbone on the shocker absorber side, one at each wheel and not 4 on each wheel Mike |

Been meaning to write this up for years - and even have some pictures of Roger Parker at work! |

SF and Mike are correct (of course). If Retinax A is equivalent to Castrol LM then it's fine - I imagine it is. The F front end is Metro so all similar technology. 6000 or 6 months is preferable. |

And life will be sooo much easier for the DIYér if these 4 nipples are changed to 45deg. one´s !! Done it - been there. The angle for the grease-gun will then be OK. / Carl. |
