MG MGF Technical - Good Evening From Lotus

Evening fellow K Series folk,

I have a VVC engine in my elise which has had to have a replacement ECU. The problem lies with a compatibility issue between the ECU and the Lucas 5AS immobiliser Unit.

Apparently the diag box needs to be plugged in to synchronise the 2.

The Rover dealer vaguely says he can do it and so do some other Internet sources. Its going to Rover tomorrow.

Does anyone know if it will definately work ??

im guessing its the same setup in the F ?

someone rest my mind !

thanks,

jon

I would guess that TestBook should be able to do it, if the dealer is confident then you should be OK.

I do know that Brown & Gammons in Baldock do MG and Elise servicing. You might be able to put your mind at rest tomorrow morning by giving them a ring and pleading for their advice.

Jon,
the MG-Rover tool can match the 2.
I just had a spare ECU added to my Elise by local MG dealer.

it worked...got the car home and now neither of the fobs work withe immobiliser :-(
jon

jon,

Did you leave your 2 fobs with the dealer to reprogram/refresh/resync with the Lucas 5AS immobiliser when it was reset to the ECU?

I thought they would have asked you for them.

yes i did. but it was saturday morning and they seemed in a rush. i bet they didn't resync the fobs.

saying that it worked when they first did it and it worked when i went to the car.

back there tomorrow i guess :-(
